Navicent Health to Offer Free Prostate Cancer Screenings to Fire Fighters, Law Enforcement

Partnership with Georgia Prostate Cancer Coalition Protects First Responders

Navicent Health is pleased to partner with the Georgia Prostate Cancer Coalition to offer free prostate cancer screenings to fire fighters and law enforcement officers. The free screenings will be offered throughout the state, and the following Navicent Health facilities will participate in this program:

  • Diagnostics Hardeman, Navicent Health (1650 Hardeman Ave., Macon)
  • Diagnostics Monroe, Navicent Health (120 N. Lee St., Forsyth)
  • Medical Center of Peach County, Navicent Health (1960 Hwy 247 Connector, Byron)

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in American men. ACS estimates 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed in their lifetime, and approximately 27,000 men will die of the disease in 2017. Although symptoms may include frequent or painful urination, blood in the urine, or erectile dysfunction, the disease rarely shows symptoms or warning signs in its earliest stages. Therefore, screening tests like those offered by Navicent Health and the Georgia Prostate Cancer Coalition are essential for early detection and diagnosis.

“Prostate cancer can be something of a silent killer, and early detection is key to successfully combating this illness. We are pleased to partner with the Coalition to offer first responders access to free diagnostic care. Navicent Health continues to support healthy communities through early detection, diagnosis, and prevention,” said Carol Babcock, Director of Healthy Communities, Navicent Health.

For a complete list of dates and statewide locations, please visit coupons for the screening will be distributed at local fire departments and law enforcement offices, and may be redeemed at the listed Navicent Health locations or other locations statewide.
